Load Flow, Reactive Power Capability & System Losses Studies

Objective

Ensuring a stable and efficient power system is essential for reliably supplying electricity to connected loads. This study delves into how power flows through the system, evaluates its reactive power capabilities, and identifies losses during transmission and distribution. By analyzing these factors, we aim to maintain proper voltage levels and enhance overall system performance.

Methodology

With over 15 years of collective expertise, we utilize advanced software tools such as SKM-PTW, ETAP, Digsilent PowerFactory, PSS Sincal, and PSCAD for both steady-state and dynamic load flow studies. Our team can build comprehensive power system models from scratch or refine existing client models to simulate and analyze power flows, voltage levels, and loss scenarios effectively.

Examples

  • Simulating peak and off-peak load scenarios in a regional power grid to pinpoint potential overloads and voltage stability issues.
  • Identifying optimal placements for capacitor banks to enhance reactive power support.
  • Determining the sizing and selection of STATCOM and BESS for reactive power, transient stability, and inertial support.
